Natural Health Tips
Guardian Qi and Your Skin
HEALING PRINCIPLES OF ACUPUNCTURE
AND
TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
Under the ancient medical practice of Acupuncture, the
Lung system dominates the skin and Wei Qi or Guardian Qi.
Wei Qi can be thought of as a shield of energy that runs
along the body surface. This protective shield wards off
external negatives influences that can cause health imbalances
such as adverse weather patterns like cold and wind. Wei
Qi translates into the immune system. When Wei Qi is weak
a variety of respiratory disease can occur including asthma,
allergies, the common cold and a variety of signs and symptoms
such as coughing, wheezing, sneezing, fever, sinus congestion,
bronchitis, chills, body aches, dermatitis, and headache.
Stimulating the skin can strengthen Wei Qi and activate
the immune system. Exfoliation of the skin with a shower
brush is a nice way to provide stimulation and awaken the
Wei Qi. A long handled shower brush with firm bristles works
best.
